We're only 2 days away from the series finale and the outpouring of support, praise, and enthusiasm for our favorite composer has been overwhelming. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to express your feelings on Smallville and Louis' music.
The series has touched all our lives in some way, that's why we all congregate on Twitter, Facebook, here and elsewhere to discuss the stories, the characters, the music and the Superman legacy. For me, I had never watched the show even though I had friends who loved it & kept telling me that I, too, would love it. But in the spring of 2009 a brushstroke of fate brought Louis into my life; I didn't want to seem like I was clueless about what he did for a living, so I started watching Smallville online from episode 1. For a couple of months, I watched 3-4 episodes a day, and by the time the last 3 episodes of season 8 aired on tv, I was all caught up! I don't think, outside of my years in music conservatory, I was ever so dedicated to something in my life!
Now, obviously, Smallville has been a fixture in our relationship - I have been witness to seasons 9 and 10 firsthand, and been able to watch as each episode took shape under his very talented fingers. He amazes me every week with his music - I sometimes look at him and cannot believe that this man sitting across from me at the dinner table has something so beautiful as "The Proposal" music swimming around in his head. I am a very lucky woman.
With the end of Smallville, so ends a daily routine around our house. It's not just changing our Friday evening routine as we settle in to watch SV on our tv with the volume pumped way up and a glass of wine (or sometimes a gin martini!) in our hands, but the routine of work eat sleep work eat sleep (not always in equal quantities). I will not miss the stress that comes with the territory, but will miss the comfort that comes with a predictable routine.
What's next for our composer? The wedding is just 4 weeks away, so we are busy finalizing our plans and finer details. After the wedding? Who knows what's in store! I'm sure it won't be long before someone scoops up this exceptionally talented & under-appreciated man!
May Smallville live on through this wonderful community I now find myself a part of!
